We are appealing for witnesses and information regarding a murder in Wembley.

Police called at 20.06 on April 22 2002 to 78 Lyon Park Avenue, Wembley to reports of a shooting and on arrival officers found a man suffering gunshot wounds

Although the air ambulance attended the man was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor
It is believed at least two Asian males had earlier been to the house and when the door was opened had pushed their way inside. The resident was then shot inside the house.

He was Suresh Kumar Selvarajah (born April 10 1976 - 26 years). If it assists our appeals, he was a Tamil.

The suspects made off from the scene in the direction of Ealing Road in a vehicle or vehicles. We have no further description of suspects or vehicles at this stage.

A post mortem on 23.4.02 at Northwick Park mortuary gave cause of death as a single shot to the chest.

We must retain an open mind regarding a motive at this stage
An incident room has opened at Hendon under DCI Richard Freeman (SCG).
Det. Supt Nigel Mawer, overseeing the investigation, said: "I would like to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

"We would like to speak to anyone who saw the suspects arrive or leave the house and anyone who may have any details about the vehicle or vehicles that may have been used.
"Do you know why the victim was targeted? Do you know who was responsible for this man's murder?

"I would urge anyone with information to contact the incident room on 020 8358 1777; if you wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

On April 26 13 men (aged 19 years - 40 years) were arrested in connection with the inquiry. One was arrested from a residential premises in North Church Road, Wembley; and 12 from a residential address in Brentvale Avenue, Wembley. Two swords were recovered from the second address.

Those arrested are in custody in various North West London Police Stations.

Sachithan Ragulaperliman, 26, of Brentvale Avenue, Alperton, was charged with threats to kill against Pretheepan Paramalimgham.

He appeared at Brent Magistrates Court on Monday.
